      I don’t really have regrets because I don’t think they’re useful.
Any decision I’ve made in the past, I have made with the most information I could have at the time, so how could I have chosen otherwise?
And seeing as there’s no way to go back and change what I’ve done in the past, being sad or angry or ashamed of things I have or haven’t done is kind of a waste of time for me.
      However!
It’s useful to think about things I’ve done that were not good for me or others, so I can figure out why they happened and stop them happening again.
But I try not to attach shame or guilt or regret to those thoughts, because they get in the way of the logic of trying to understand them!

I don’t really have any big regrets, happily – I’ve had tonnes of cringe moments and embarrassing things that I’d rather forget about or undo, but nothing that I’d really class as a proper regret. I hope it stays that way for a long time!

My mother was very ill when I was in school and eventually passed away. I wish I’d appreciated the time I had with her better. I don’t feel sad about it anymore, so there’s no need to feel bad. She’s just a bit of a mystery to me! What was her favorite food? What books did she like? What was her childhood like? What advice would she give me now? I’ll never know.
