      That’s a hard question – it depends what you mean by ‘primitive’. One way to think about it is in terms of evolution – you could consider organisms that evolved earlier to be more primitive. In that case we’re one of evolution’s latest models! Anatomically modern humans probably evolved around 300,000 years ago. To put that in context, have a look at this tree of life https://itol.embl.de/itol.cgi (humans are second in from the right in the pink section). The longer an organism’s branch, the older it is – we’re very new! There’s evidence of cyanobacteria (some of which ended up becoming chloroplasts in plant cells) going back more than two billion years!

      And while I don’t think we’re primitive on many, if any, levels, it’s also worth remembering that other creatures can do some of the amazing stuff we do too – for example, ants can make their own medicines and have been farming for more than 50 million years!
