Not in a lab context, no! Thankfully I work next door to the lab facilities but doesn’t actually have to go in there myself since my job is mostly computational. During the health and safety briefings it sounded really scary! There are lasers that are dangerous in our building too, and potentially people can even use radioactive materials in their experiments. I hope there is never an accident – especially since I’m a first aider and I might have to help someone who’s just been badly injured by the acid you just mentioned. Yikes!
Yup, when I was in sixth form I turned several of my fingers a bit yellow with some concentrated nitric acid that dribbled down the side of a test tube. Took weeks for the skin to shed and normal colour to return!
